Wedding Weekend

I spent the weekend celebrating the marriage of a good friend. Something they did for their ceremony that I've never seen done before is have the rings passed around for everyone in the audience to bless.
Their officiant explained that no couple does it alone. That the support of friends and family is what enabled to make it this far in their relationship and would be required for them to continue.

In romance books, we always have the supporting characters who push the couple toward each other (and sometimes pull them away). The sister who does a little prodding and match making, the friend who helps to talk some sense into the one of them during a fight, and even the ex-girlfriend who helps the new love realize how special it is. We aren't really doing it alone.

I kind of like that thought. Even as a couple, being alone is scary. Moving to a new city or town where you don't know anyone or even being apart for the first time can bring about a whole new layer to a relationship. So now I get to ask a question: Who has been the biggest influence in your relationship?
