Is your house clean? Like, if your mom showed up in an hour you'd be completely happy with the way it looks? Well, mine isn't. Or at least it wasn't.
My mom is flying in today for her visit to Pittsburgh in 3 years. It will also be the first time she's sees my house, since we only bought it about a year ago. So, we've been cleaning. A lot. Not the kind where you hide things in one of the back rooms hoping no one will find a reason to go back there either. Mostly because we know we'll have to give her a full tour. Otherwise, I'd be shutting the door to the office and smiling quietly while people noted how uncluttered the space looked.
A funny thing happens when you clean though. At first, you aren't really convinced that it is going to make a difference. If you're like me, cleaning usually involves a lot of organizing, which often means things get messier before they get better. After you've been at it a while, you start making comments about how much more space you have and how pretty the floor looks (yes, we haven't seen pieces of it in a while).
Are you cleaning? Ready to have your mom visit? Should I avoid your office?
