Go ahead. I know you can't help but sing "that" song. Trust me. Me neither.
Aww, the blazing hot days of summer. Why do we automatically associate romance or flings when we think of the season? And some of the best movies (in my opinion) take place during the long hot days. Okay, maybe not the best movies but some goodies.
Grease: okay, the entire movie didn't take place in the summer but the inspiration for the relationship between Sandra D. and Danny did and aren't some great romances developed between two strangers who meet and fall in love on a beach.
High School Musical 2: I can't help but give props to a movie/musical that I watched constantly with my daughter. There was dancing, singing, swim suits and funky dance moves. Plus, the relationship between Troy and Gabriella hits some bumps but comes back stronger...they even kiss at the end. Le sigh!
Dazed and Confused: maybe not an Oscar worthy movie but a classic. I remember watching this while I was in high school and I couldn't wait until I became a senior. Of course, I didn't haze anybody...really! And people were kissing and hooking up all over the place, except for Ben Affleck's character who was a total douche.
And what about music. I honestly think some songs were only meant to be listenend to with the windows down, the sun toasting your skin while the warm summer air whips your hair into a frenzy.
Summertime by Will Smith: classic summer music. I mean, the man is singing about the season.
Schools Out by Alice Cooper: what kid in school doesn't just want to throw their books in the air and rip off their close while they head to the closest beach.
Surfin' USA: an oldie but goodie. Tell me you can't help but shake your hips or do surfin' moves when you hear this song.
(There's a list of summer music here. Some I recognized while most I didn't.)
Do you agree with my list? What movies and music remind you of summer? Or a summer romance?
