Beating the Heat

It's hot here in PA. Really hot. REALLY, REALLY HOT. It's been a long time since I've survived a summer where the temperatures actually reached 100 on a regular basis. As an adult, there really aren't a lot of choices. I can sit inside and hope the AC keeps working or I can go to movie where I know the AC works.

Kids have the best deal though. When I was growing up, the summers never felt so bad. Probably because we had a hundred ways to beat the heat.

I loved my Slip 'n Slide as a kid and we always set it up in the backyard on hot days. Sadly, it never worked quite as well as it did in the commercials.

When there wasn't room for the big mat, we went old school and ran through the sprinklers. Our dogs would usually join in on that one. Come to think of it, the pets are still enjoying their time outside with the water going.

Of course I had to add these in. These pops were always a highlight of summer, though I can't remember why. That's possibly the most annoying packaging ever and it did very little to keep the juices off our outfits.

Suggestions for keeping cool? Leave them in the comments.

  1. I like taking a bad that is between cool and cold. And when you get really cold inside, it takes a few hours to get warm again. Makes it very easy to fall asleep snuggled under the comforter. And when I get hot and am not sleeping yet, I just get into the tub again.
